I loved the cheerful welcome I received on arrival and throughout my stay. Everyone was friendly, helpful and efficient. My room in the courtyard, with its own private entrance, was lovely. An old converted stable perhaps? It was cosy and warm, with very attractive decor and spotlessly clean. There were lovely soft pillows and a cosy duvet with a blanket for extra warmth. There were plenty of good bright lights which I could turn on and off according to need. This is really helpful as older eyes need brighter light! Farrars tea, coffee and biscuits were available together with a mini fridge containing fresh milk. So welcome instead of the usual fiddly milk sachets. I had two good breakfasts and one evening meal, all of which were substantial and tasty. There was a wide range of gins, wines and real ales available in the comfortable bar. I would recommend booking for an evening meal as it was busy with many booked tables. I managed to park the car, despite the archway being quite narrow, which was a bonus in busy Kendal. The Shakespeare Inn was the perfect choice as I was attending a gig at the Brewery Arts Centre a mere 3 minutes walk away. After a lovely weekend I have no hesitation in recommending the inn.

Great location, free onsite parking (through the tunnel? to the side of the pub, this is a narrow tunnel but easy to drive through with care), room was very clean, quality sheets and mattress, complimentary fresh milk in the fridge with some complimentary biscuits. 100% would stay again, great value for money. A great place to stay much prefer this to a soulless travellodge or Premier inn. The rooms are located around the back of the pub and were really quiet with a table and chairs outside in a small courtyard which would be great in Summer. Thank you!

Room spotless and spacious with all facilities you could want, except coat hangers , small price to pay for what was a superior room and totally unexpected. Breakfast was excellent and variations to the menu up to your mood or hunger at the time, your choice and staff more than happy to oblige. Main menu a bit limited in my opinion but what we did eat was very nice including Wobbly Bob's steak pie again all served by very friendly staff. If you enjoy a game of pool Michael is the one to ask all in all would visit again.

Loved our stay at the Shakespeare Inn. We had two cosy, warm rooms located together, that were good sizes and stocked with tea, coffee, fresh milk and biscuits!! The Inn itself was a friendly place for breakfast and dinner with my teenage children, staff were all super nice and helpful!! Yummy breakfasts were a fantastic start to our busy days, and especially enjoyed the black pudding!! Also super quiet given the location in the middle of Kendal - we all slept really well.

Right in the centre of town beautiful historic building. The room was behind the main building situated in the coach house block so was quiet and peaceful with no traffic noise. Lovely room clean and well decorated. Extremely comfortable beds and nice bathroom. Great inclusive delicious breakfast and booked a nice evening meal. All the staff were friendly, accommodating and very helpful. All this made for a relaxing stay in a lovely town.
